The workshop for the Lusophone countries (4-6 May 2011), hosted by the project office was attended by 22 delegates all senior members of staff from the IT, Legal Services and Documentation Departments representatives from Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau,Mozambique, and Portugal. The East African countries workshop (10-12 May 2011), kindly hosted by the Kenya National Assembly and representatives, was attended by 41 delegates also being senior managers from the departments of IT, Hansard Section,Table Office, Documentation and Legislative Services came from all the five(5) EAC countries, Ethiopia and Sudan.

The workshops provided an opportunity for participants to both gain an understanding of the features of Bungeni and Akoma Ntoso and an appreciation of how it can be implemented in their different parliaments. Moreover it provided them an opportunity to reflect on how business is conducted in their parliaments by analysing the workflow patterns and the documentation processes currently in place. There was indeed a lot of cross fertilization of ideas and an appreciation of the different systems used by the different parliaments. This process also provided the project team with sufficient information and feedback to further refine the system ready for deployment and localisation in the different parliaments. Participants found the workshop very useful and relevant and most expressed their willingness to have the system implemented in their parliaments as soon as possible. Participants were thus able to develop plans for implementation and data migration having received clarity on issues of system, and skill requirements and  assurance of continued support by the Africa i-Parliaments Action Plan. Depending on the requests  made and availability of the required localisation information from parliaments  localised versions of Bungeni for each of the parliaments could be ready for deployment  within 8-12 weeks after receiving the request.

The Africa i-Parliament Action plan has also scheduled similar workshops for other groups as follow SADC English Speaking Parliaments from 1-3 June 2011, hosted by the Parliament of Mauriyius; West Africa English Speaking 14-16 June 2011. hosted by the Parliament of Ghana and finally the French Speaking Parliaments 19-21 July 2011, hosted by the Parliament of Cameroon.
